Personal letters from D.J. Lewis to his mother-in-law, Mrs K. Lawrence, written during his employment at the Gezira Research Farm in Wad Medani. The letters are mostly of a personal and family nature but also include references to the visit of
the California University Africa expedition to the Sudan (SAD.340/1/1); description of the wildlife during a Nile steamer trip to Kenya (SAD.340/1/2); his investigations into the infestation of simulium flies in Wau
(SAD.340/1/4); crossing the river at Kassala on Sudanese bedsteads (SAD.340/1/8); his appointment as Sudan Government representative to the Brazzaville Conference in the Belgian Congo (SAD.340/1/9).
