Contents

Deeds, with a few family papers, relating to land at Middleton St. George and Middleton One Row, Co. Durham, belonging to the Killinghall family, in which the Place, Routh, Pemberton and Cocks families also had interests. Deeds relating to land also at Dinsdale, Sadbury (Sadberge), Sockburn, Blackwell, Egglescliffe, and Trafforth (Trafford) Co. Durham and Barton, North Yorkshire
From 1669 onwards part C of the series, Dinsdale etc. documents, refer also to lands at Middleton One Row also.

Accession details

Deposited in 1958 by Mr. Ralph Turton of Low Middleton Hall, Middleton St. George, with an additional deposit of 24 items by the hand of his grand-daughter in 1980, when Mr. Turton lived at Kildale Hall, Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Arrangement

The material has been placed in four groups, and the second deposit was treated as a fifth. Each group is listed in chronological order, and there is much overlapping of material. The second deposit was not, unfortunately, given a following sequence of numbers, so the two are distinguished for the purposes of this list by the date of deposit precedingthe actual number. It is recommended that the deposit date is given when citing numbers.
