Yei, western Mongalla, service as S.M.O. for Kordofan Province (from 1916), including the aftermath of the Darfur campaign, service with the Egyptian Army in Egypt at Kantara (1917-1918), sleeping sickness work in the Bahr el Ghazal (1918-1920),
appointment to the Wellcome Tropical Research Laboratories in Khartoum (1920-1922) and secondment to Wadi Halfa
