Single column, 20 lines
Written in two sizes of a tall and handsome bookhand, the larger on a monumental scale, without biting curves and with a strong st-ligature, capitals crossed with arching penstrokes.
Red rubrics, one-line initials in pale blue or red, 2-line initials touched in wavy penstrokes in contrasting colour, three larger initials variegated in red and pale blue with geometric patterns and twirls of foliage.
Written in Low Countries, mid 12th century.
Turned inside out, trimmed, folded and holed for stitching when later used as a cover for a 1650 book or document.
Bifolium from a Romanesque noted Missal of grand proportions, [from the Low Countries], originally folios 83 & 86, but now in inverted order. 83 has texts for Dominica III post Pentecosten including the lections Luke 15.1-7 (acephalous), Colossians 3.17-24, and Matthew 5.25-28. 86 has texts for Dominica IV post Pentecosten, including the lections Luke 6.36-42 and Luke 15.8-10. Turned inside out, trimmed, folded and holed for stitching when later used as a cover for a 1650 book or document.
