            Photographs contained within a leather-bound album dating from May 1898 to 1899. The album covers Wollen's service in the Sudan, particularly the construction of the Wadi Halfa - Khartoum military railway during the Nile campaign of 1898.
Subjects include Sudan Military Railway engines, wagons and workshops at Wadi Halfa and Shendi; military manouevres and buildings at Wadi Halfa and Khartoum; the hauling of a steamer through the second cataract; the construction of a permanent
bridge across the River Atbara; Cairo street scenes; Philae temple; the construction of Khartoum; and scenes after the Battle of Omdurman, including rare photographs of three of the Mahdi's sons.
