Extent: A regular quire of 12 leaves, but it is probable that f.3-10 originally formed a separate quire from f.1-2 and 11-12: the hand and content of f.11 continue from f.2v. More than half of the upper part of f.1 and 12
has been torn away; it is possible that f.12 was entirely blank.

This small volume is identifiable as belonging to the infirmarer from the heading on f.3 and references to him as beneficiary of grants copied on f.4-10. The script of the cartulary, f.4-10, indicates that it was written shortly after the rental
for 1430-1431, f.3-4.
Part of the medieval archive of Durham Cathedral Priory placed in the care of Durham University by Durham Dean and Chapter in 1948.

Rentals f.1r-2v and 11r [1417 x 1429]
Survey of the [infirmarer's] estate, fixed revenues and (f.11
r) outgoings, compiled (f.11
r) by John Fishburn chancellor [1417-31]. This document is very similar in
nature to the survey of the freeholdings of the main monastic estate compiled in 1430, the
Feodarium: it gives details of the descent, size and whereabouts of each holding. Comparison with f.3
r-4
r indicates that the holdings are those of the infirmarer's estate, and suggests that the document began at the top of f.1, now missing, rather than on lost preceding leaves. The addition on
f.2
r probably indicates that the document had been created by 1429.

formerly John Cronan's, held freely in the right of Isabella his wife.

Cartulary f.9r-v 8 Id. May [8 May] 1330
Mandate by the commissary of the bishop of Durham's official to the parochial chaplain of St Nicholas' church, Durham, to admonish John Yekemond of the Borough of Durham, and compel him by suspension and excommunication,
to pay within 8 days to the prior and convent of Durham and the infirmarer 2s. and 1lb. of wax, admitted by him as due to them annually.
