Four matching coeval sections – f.1-59 (quires I-VIII); f.60-123 (quires IX-XVI); f.124-247 (quires XVII-XXXII); f.248-267 (quires XXXIII-XXXV) corresponding to the principal texts. The first and last (items (a) and (e)) are linked by common scribes and artists as are the second and third (items (b) and (c)).

Written by four scribes: scribe 1 wrote the main text and apparatus of (a) and the start of the main text of (e) plus all of its apparatus; scribe 2 did the main texts of (b) and (c); scribe 3 contributed the apparatus to both (b) and (c); scribe 4 wrote the end of the main text of (e).
Extensive further glossing, marginal and interlinear, throughout (a), the work of several 14-15th century cursive hands. Added glosses and annotation throughout (b), most consistently on f.60r-64r. Standard Tuckett binding, mid 19th century full brown calf over thick wooden boards (Charles Tuckett, binder to the British Museum, rebound many Durham manuscripts in the 19th century). Stains on f.269 from the turnovers and metalwork of an earlier binding.
Written in Italy or Southern France, mid 14th century (before 1383).
