G//S 628/1
Sword of `Ali Dinar (103 cms). Gold hilt with multi-coloured tassle and carved metal blade. Engraved leather scabbard with body strap. The blade is probably of Sollingen manufacture while the hilt is probably of local Darfur manufacture. The blade is decorated with various inscriptions and magical formulae, one of which includes the Sultan's name and the date 1321 [1903/04]. One inscription reads “This is the sword whose name is k.b.h.” (meaning not known). The Sultan's name is repeated on the hilt with the date 1331 [1913]
