Single leaf from Book of hours, written in the Low Countries, mid 15th century

No pricking visible. Ruled in faint pink ink. Written space 100 x 82 mm. 15 lines.
Written in textura, expertly, in two sizes, very slightly larger for lections.
Decoration: text capitals lined with red.
Initials: (i) to responsory ii, 1-line, gold on a cusped ground of deep pink and blue patterned with white; (ii) to lections, 2-line, as (i), each extended with three tendrils in black with gold ivy-leaves terminating in a trilobed flower in deep pink or blue with three gold blobs.
Written in Low Countries, mid 15th century.
“Flemish c.1460” and bookseller's markings, in pencil, on verso. Possibly one of three separate leaves of “Horae BVM” referred to in Maggs' invoice of October 1982 to Dr Elliott.
Deposited with Durham University Library in 1984 by Dr. George Ball Elliott (1918-1994).
Matins of Blessed Virgin Mary, lection i - lection ii benediction. The responsories are (i) Sancta et immaculata, and (ii) Beata es uirgo.
