4.2.Elemos items that are now part of Misc.Ch. are either omitted from Greenwell's list (1c, 6", 6"bis, [15], [16], [17], 18-20), or noted as "not here June 8 1892" (7-12, 14)
6.2.Elemos.4-5 were missing in 1965, but found in 1979 and present 2023
3.4.Elemos.6 is recorded by Greenwell as in triplicate, but in fact 4 copies survive and were noted in 1965

The numbering system reflects the medieval organisation of the documents in boxes with multiple compartments: the first number is the compartment, the second the box, and the final one the number in the sequence (thus
1.2.Elemos.5 is the fifth document in the first compartment of the second box). The numbers were assigned in the Repertorium Magnum.
Alm.Sm.Cart. p.39-66 is an inventory, with index of places (p.39), to the charters of the office of the almoner of Durham, drawn up by William of Appleby almoner in 1399;
considerably annotated, amended and enlarged, mostly in the hands of John Fishburn and Thomas Swalwell.
Misc.Ch.7309 is a list compiled by William Greenwell, apparently from Alm.Sm.Cart. p.36-66, supplemented by original documents not included in that
inventory, as identified by their endorsements.

John son of Marmaduke Darell took the said land to farm at 20s annually in 1329.
Master Richard Selby took the same land to farm from the almoner of Durham in 1354.
William son of Roger took the same land to farm in 1377 for many years.
